Community Involvement at Colonel By

As part of the OSSD graduation requirements, each student attending secondary school in Ontario must complete 40 hours of Community Involvement prior to being granted an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)

Students are required to register their hours using the OCDSB approved form . Students are reminded that both the student and parent must sign the form. Students must retain a copy of the form for their records and hand in the original to the guidance office.

It is recommended that a student complete a minimum of 10 hours per year. Students have the flexibility to complete all 40 hours in their grade 9 year if they choose.

Students are permitted to begin working on their Community Involvement hours as of July 1st following their grade 8 graduation.

Not all volunteer activities qualify as community involvement hours. Please read the OCDSB Guidelines for eligible activities and information regarding the rules to follow.
